What's new! Lot's of stuff! Can't Post

The past few weeks have been a real unusual time for us!

Usually, this time of the summer is the doldrums. People are away, doing other things, and the weather (good or bad) keeps them busy.

Well, this year, they seem to have decided to while away the doldrums in our shop :) (Not that we are complaining, mind you!) We just have been so busy, it feels like the holiday season!

We had planned to start up a bunch of new activities to generate more interest in beading, but we just haven't had the time! It's like people have read our minds, and started beading and doing things on their own!

Our bead classes are doing well -- we are getting very busy, and might have to start actually scheduling *real* classes on a time schedule soon! Right now, we set up classes and instruction as YOU WANT THEM! On your schedule. It's been great, but so successful, Marie is busy most hours she's in the shop now. We love to see the new beaders of all ages, and it's a lot of fun for us too!

This weekend we were asked to attend a corporate picnic at Kennywood, and Marie is planning something really wonderful for the kids. If it goes well, we'll be standardizing the kits, and creating more "party packs" for different sorts of events.

We realize it's not even time for the "Christmas in August" sales of years past, but it's never too early to start thinking about your holiday house parties! We can bring a party to you, to make jewelry of all sorts for all ages. Earrings, bracelets, wire wrapped pendents, and more. We can even do origami parties and quilling parties for older children and adults.

We've gotten a lot of new products in. A bunch of new suppliers stopped by, and in addition to our bracelet strands and kits (we've made bead kits of a variety of beads in the $15-$30 price range -- and they sell out as fast as we can make them), we've gotten in products we've been asked for by several customers.

On order:

Crimp Bead Covers -- these are curved sterling (or gold filled) metal C's that can be closed around a crimp bead or tube to make a "BEAD". A small seam is all you see, rather than the crimp tube. It gives your jewelry the best features of a "Clamshell" with the strength and features of a crimp-tube. They should arrive next week.

We received a *large* load of pastel glass beads in a variety of surfaces and shapes from rounds to rice and rectangles. Perfect for the dog days of summer, and back to school, they mix and match with silver, gold and most gemstones nicely. Strands vary from 16-32" long, and larger beads are sold individually.

We also got some dyed hair-pipe beads and a variety of bone and horn accents. Some double drilled pieces -- all really interesting! This time of year is great for those 'earthy' look pieces, with a Native American feel. "Camp" type jewelry projects, but of designer quality!

We have some interesting shell and gemstone fans available, and some new porceline/enamel animal and figure beads. Some pewter articulated beads are on the way. These are great for the "funky" chunky and colorful look that is so popular today.

On the down side, we've also run out of a lot of things that we usually have -- pleasantly unexpectedly I assure you! We are reordering and restocking as fast as we can.

The up side of this, is that if you have special needs, or special orders, we are ordering from most of our various suppliers, and we can tack special orders on without adding in the unavoidable shipping costs usually attached to such orders. (In other words, it's CHEAPER for you!) We are ordering everything from Swarovski to Sterling, and Agates to Zoisites.

It's really like Christmas In August! And August is still a week away!

Thanks everyone!
