As noted, we are doing wholesale, and have closed to the public.
We are selling to other shops -- bead and specialty, as well as to individual designers.
We are repackaging our loose inventory, and will be offering it in units, pre-packaged, and in quantity.
Gemstrands are still by the strand, and we are taking appointments for tues/wed late mornings, thursday afternoons, and some weekends.
This weekend, saturday the 11th, we will be open from 10a-2p, with a *very* limited selection of assorted items, but most of our high-end strands and what precious metals we have left. (We are ordering standard rounds, and such from FMG's catalogs for people, at discounts of up to 40% (or more) of prices locally!!).
In these economically unstable times, you need all the help you can get. We are TRUE wholesalers/distributors to the local market. We don't "discount" our retail prices, we simply don't mark up our wholesale prices :) Big difference. Our prices are based on what we paid, not some artificial "keystone" or 200% mark up that is then discounted 40%. If you use bulk amounts of any item(s) talk with us!! I'm sure we can beat your current prices, supply line, and even cut the amount you have to buy at one time to get the price. Especially "stock" items like Swarovski crystals, precious metal rounds and spacers, crimps/clasps, beading wire, precious metal wire, and anything in the Fire Mountan Gems catalog (we offer 2nd level discounts on every item, higher on larger orders). If you use certain items regularly, we can stock them -- so you don't have a $20+ overnight shipping charge when you run out. Or, if there is an emergency, we can often come up with an order to cut that shipping charge down to size.
All our seed beads are for sale, at discounted prices over retail. We have LARGE selections .99 cent tubes (the tubes of toho beads that go for $2+ at the crafts stores) as well as our regular 10-gram flip tops of myuki beads. We also have some bulk bags and lots left. We also have chinese (low grade) beads in *BULK* in some basic colors -- by the POUND or kilo. All our pony/plastic beads need to go! As do most of any of the craft items and go-withs we stocked for the make-it/take-it crowd.
Our gemstones, metaphysical items, and such are not "on sale" but are at our usual prices, with wholesale discounts. Many are well priced, due to the rise in costs of materials (raw and processed) due to the rise in gas and economic situations that have affected supplies -- what that means is our prices are mostly over a year old.
We also have some very, very high-end, unique, and unusual beads from my personal collection and our higher end inventory (that most people didn't know was there). If you need unique beads to make this holiday season a success, we've got them. We also have a large amount of interesting items -- tourmalines, black garnets, etc for wrapping, metaphysical, or accent use.
We have a huge slection of lose (meaning non-stranded) beads in short strands, packages, and matched sets for accents, fill-ins, and such. Not all is in the store now, we'll be bringing it back as it sells.
What we don't have, because it is in storage, are all the lower end beads, the loose beads, and such. We'll be taking requests for what to bring back out of storage, and we *WILL* be taking orders for anything from Fire Mountain Gems catalog, at 2nd level pricing. With a wholesale certificate you'll get 3rd level pricing. We have an order coming in usually once a week, and have been supporting several designers in town with precious metals (gold filled, sterling, etc - rounds, saucers, findings, etc) at prices that are FAR BELOW the available local prices, and without having to buy whole packages, or multiple quantities. If you use rounds, or anything that is "standard" in the catalogs we *CAN* save you money!!! and keep it in stock.
So, we have HOURS BY APPOINTMENT -- currently only via email on this site, but soon by the BetterBeads.com site. There will be minimum purchase requirements, and other restrictions to be posted later. We are NO LONGER doing retail. Retail needs to go through one of the local shops, and we are trying to work with http://www.beyondbeadsllc.com/ in cranberry. If you go there, tell them pugdog sent you (seriously!). We are looking to have our big late november trunk show there, rather than our shop.
This saturday we'll be open 10-2, with a limited inventory. *BUT* almost all our high-end, unique, stuff.
There is no minimum this weekend, but we are doing WHOLESALE. Best discounts with a tax-id.

I physically cannot do retail any more, and it's been with great sadness I had to shut down. But, with your support and interest, we can still bring our great selection and prices to you through other local shops, or on our open-shopping days (when I have a lot of help). Wholesale customers -- remember, I can still give you the best prices in town by appointment. Let's talk.
BetterBeads.com will be our local pittsburgh wholesale site, but it will take me a little while to get it up and running. We do not do mail order! that defeats the purpose of being a local pittsburgh area distributor. We want to be your year-round trunk show.
We probably have more inventory than all the local shops combined (though we don't have the "usual" items like all the swarovski, etc) (BTW: We can get you swarovski in bulk, at the best prices in town!). I'm not fibbing -- just ask the people who've been helping pack the shop up the past year :) They shop the other bead shops and keep me posted. One lady came in to show me the "new" beads she found at one local shop, Gold-Filled for $2.70 each. I pulled the *exact* same beads out of the new order box for $1.40 each. We WHOLESALE!! And have been the only shop in town that really does!
We've always been one of pittsburgh's best kept secrets, but we are going to let the secret out of the bag shortly. We will be advertising on craigs list, and other places, once our regular customers have been notified.
Once we get the rest of the shop organized, and the inventory back from storage, we will be wholesale only (but will support our old/regular customers), and mostly by appointment. We'll have a minimum of $100, or $50/person groups of 3 or more on the same ticket. We cannot do retail. I cannot do retail. I have to do wholesale. I physically cannot handle the demands of retail. I love finding new beads, finding great specimens, and all the fun that goes with it. I hope to keep doing that, but on a wholesale level. Those of you who talked with us, and spent time in the shop know we/I *really* loved doing this, and love the beads and rocks. We had FUN, and we'd like to keep having fun -- and helping you complete your projects, and stay in business is how we have fun. I had hoped to reopen by this time, but I can't. It has nothing to do with the economy -- I have enough inventory for a year or more, and could fully stock 2 bead shops with virtually no additional outlay. I physically can't do it, and it's been frustrating as heck.
If you have a bead or metaphysical shop (or know one) that is looking for a supply of higher end items, or a low-cost venue for the standard stock items, talk with us. We can get most things in at great prices, and we can keep our eyes open for specials, close outs, one-of-a-kinds, and things your shop might be looking for.
