New Inventory 4/19/03 Can't Post

I seem to have a regular visit from a gemstone peddler every saturday, and it's becoming an "event".

Saturday's tend to be busy, in general, but in the 7:00 to 8:00 hour, right before we close, we seem to do an unusual amount of business, trade, swap, and chat.

I never know what is coming in, but this week I got a strand of chunky honey onyx -- pretty nice stuff, actually. Also red indian jasper with the cream and clear swirls (sold as poppy, but it wasn't). And a chunky strand of Grade A/C- Petersite. No blues, but about 5 beads have really nice chatoyance. (I'll be breaking that strand up and grading each bead).

I also got a really sweet strand of Ruby in Zoisite cylinder/tube beads, and some 6 (apprx) mm strands of moss(tree) agate (green in a white matrix) and what looks like very, very pale unakite in the same size. Also 5-6 mm smokey quartz rounds.

The "Prize" of the bunch was a short strand of twisted oval (I'm not sure of the correct name) red jasper/hematite beads. They look like tiger iron, without the tiger eye <G>. They had a high acquisition cost, but were worth it. First come, first served on that strand!

Most of the other beads can be reordered, at least for a short while. The twisted jasper/hematite can't. There are about 5 or 7 beads that have well matched banding, and the rest have a mix, or shift to the red, but go well with the others, or can stand on their own. Very unusual, and a dusky red, or venus blood color, rather than "RED" <G>

Here is a photo of of the items. Colors are off, I'm using an old machine. They shift a tad to the blue on some monitors and to the red on others. The background _should_ be a fairly bright gold felt, slightly antique, and the quarter is well, metallic grey <G> for reference.
