Beadwork April/May Can't Post

The new beadwork, due out any day, has a great article on making beaded people. Lot's of stuff to get your creative juices flowing, and you'll never look at your beads quite the same again! You'll start making "body bags" to hold all the parts that will make a nice person!

Talking to myself here :) but, has anyone tried the figures or the animals in that issue?

I need to post some pictures of the seed beadies I like to make, and which the kids love to play with on my counters. The stories they make up over the critters <G> "This must be a girl because it has pink on." "This is a boy because it has blue pockets."

I'm also about ready to tackle a larger sized beaded spider, using perhaps 20mm beads, rather than the 8 and 10mm ones I usually use.

HI,

OH MY GOD I'M SO HAPPY TO HAVE FINALLY FOUND SOMEONE THAT IS TALKING ABOUT 3D BEADING! I HAVEN'T TRIED THE PATTERN IN THE MAG YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT BUT I DO HAVE MANY PATTERNS I HAVE GOTTEN FROM THE NET. THE SITES I HAVE ARE IN OTHER LANGUAGES BUT YOU CAN USE THE ALTA VISTA TRANSLATOR TO TRANSLATE THE SITE AND THEN PRINT THE PATTERNS. THESE ARE NOT DONE IN PEYOTE OR BRICK STITCH THESE ARE DIFFERENT. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU WOULD CALL THIS TYPE OF BEADING BUT IT IS SIMPLE FAST AND FUN! SO FAR I HAVE DONE THE PEACOCK A ROOSTER AND A CLOWN FISH. IF I KNEW HOW I WOUL DINSERT A PICTURE FOR YOU. HERE IS ONE LINK TO GET YOU STARTED.

First of all, thank you Kathi for telling me about this forum. There is a book out by Sigrid Wynne-Evans called Three Dimensional Beadwork that has people and animals in it, they are done mostly in tubular peyote with square and brick stitch finishing touches. She has pics on her site at http://www.beadedbear.com You can also find a few patterns at http://beadwork.about.com in their free patterns but you have to really look for them. Try searching for peyote or tubular peyote stitch and they should come up. This is fun having more people to talk 3-D to. Thanks again Kathi.

That was a great link!

I have had some computer problems for the past few days, so what a wonderful way of getting back on-line!

Hi PugDog,
I was so glad to see this area of the forum. I was hoping there would be much more activity and that we could all share beading links. Do you still do any 3D beading and if so what style? Brick, Peyote or similar to the link I shared? Right now I am looking forward to beading a Willow tree when I get all the beads together. The pattern is from Donatella Ciotti's book. I would like to see pictures of 3D things you have beaded. I have to get the little one up for school now so gotta get busy.
Have a nice day

Hi PugDog,

I haven't seen that magazine. I very seldom buy them because they don't have the unusual things that I enjoy making for the most part. What month is the beadwork mag. with the dragon? I just might have to go shopping if it is still available.

It's the current issue, hit the stands within the past two weeks, so should still be available. Issue date is Feb/Mar I think.

It's really cute :)

Hi Pug,

I am trying to find that issue. Could you advise me exactly which issue and how I might be able to get those instructions on the 3 d beading if I can not get the magazine.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi Kathi,

I'm sorry but I didn't understand how to use this Babel Fish, could you please explain it to me?

Thanks!

Go to http://babelfish.altavista.com and you'll see easy to follow instructions.

In a nutshell bablefish is from the HitchHiker's Guide to the Universe books, and is a little creature you fit in your ear, and it lives on brainwaves but as a side effect, translates speach via emitted brainwaves. It was a convenient, and very British solution to a problem of getting different species communicating ;) Obviously, the programmers at AltaVista were Douglas Adams fans.

If you install the altavista toolbar, you have instant access to the page translations, but I can't endorse that, as we've had problems with the toolbar behaving *badly*. You're mileage may vary.
